Mama said there will be days like this or better yet, papa. Thanks to his special genetics I get a monthly case of pimples that enjoy spreading all over my face like the Burbank Fires.
At 29, I’ve overcome a lot of handicaps when it comes to my face including living with adult acne but 3 years ago I got sick of not looking the way I felt. GLAMOURS!
So this is where I begin my tale, of how I found two western and two eastern products that have changed my life…and face! 😉
Let’s start with the West…
Then (2015)
Brand: Epiduo Gel
One of my first goals was to learn what was going on with my skin. Enter my LA based dermatologist and this little number. This can only be prescribed by a doctor but it’s worth the hassle. She told me she didn’t want me using internal medicines without trying topical ones first. When I started using Epiduo, I applied it every night. Now I’m down to every two nights. With adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, it’s the perfect prescription medicine.
Now (2017)
Brand: Differin
On this journey, I thought the only topical that could save me was Epiduo. I recently discovered another gem that takes the wait and doctor visit out of the equation. Introducing Differin, the American over-the-counter medicine that has some of the same doctors prescribed activators. Key ingredients that make the $12 price tag worth it. Like Epiduo, Differin carries adapalene 0.1% the main game changer for a prescription required topical. You can find Differin at CVS and Walmart and it comes with a cleanser as well.
Now off to the East…
Then (2013)
Brand: Etude House
With my complexion, red spots can be painfully obvious. To deal with this annoying blaring red indicator I use the Etude House AC Clinic Red Spot Balm.  This tiny yet cute container comes with a small tool to help reach the medicine. It targets blemishes or vibrant pimples to bring them to a calm.
Now (2017)
Brand: Pyunkang Yul
This year has opened my eyes and skin to new brands to use. With Hallyu wave becoming more prominent in other areas such as food and beauty products it’s no surprise that new brands from Korea are entering the US Market or are imported into the states. One such brand is Pyunkang Yul. The ATO Cream seen below is a mildly medicated cream that improves damaged skin, vitalizes cutaneous circulation and provides highly enriched energy to the skin. The most notable feature is that the cream does not contain the normal topical ingredients that irritate the skin such as paraben or mineral oil, and there’s over 50 of them!
I hope these suggestions aid you in your search for a great topical treatment for your skin when those annoying breakout days return.
